  Benzodiazepines, or benzos, as they are commonly referred are depressants which are designed for the treatment of anxiety disorders, insomnia, seizures, muscle spasms and alcohol withdrawal.  Depending on which type of benzodiazepine is taken the detection time can vary from just a few hours to a few weeks.  Generally speaking, the quicker the reaction time and effect of the drug the shorter the reaction time will be.  There are other factors to be considered regarding detection time as well.  One of the main factors is the individual’s metabolic rate.  As we get older our metabolism slows down and it takes longer for our bodies to process certain substances.  Weight and percentage of body fat as well as frequency of use are also determining factors as well as the overall health of the individual as to how long the benzodiazepine can be detected in the blood, urine and saliva.

  Benzodiazepines are one of the most widely prescribed drugs and the most common of these is valium or xanax. On a standard urine drug test benzodiazepines will be detected as an opiate. There are three main categories which people who use benzodiazepines fall into.  The casual user will take the drugs one to three times a week for less than three months.  The frequent user will take them more than three times a week but for less than three months and the heavy user will take them for longer than three months.  For drug detection purposes people who weigh over two hundred pounds will fall into the heavy user category because of their high fat to body mass ratio. Most benzodiazepines can be detected in the urine for anywhere from twenty four to seventy two hours for a single use.  For chronic users it can take weeks to be undetectable in the urine sample.

  There is a vast amount of information out there, virtually any question can be answered, and there is not much being left unsaid. However, sometimes when you are searching for the best way to pass a drug test, you need to make sure that the source is reliable enough to believe it. And if there are no cross-references – just use your own good judgment whether to believe the information you read or not.

  -         Hi there, I have a question for you. It is kind of a silly question, but I just want to know. What is the upper cut-off limit for marijuana THC drug testing?

  -         I am sorry, sir, but I believe there is no upper cut-off level. If the concentration if the metabolite is above 50ng/ml, the sample will be marked as positive. Some drug tests are more sensitive and the cut-off level is 15ng/ml.

  -         I see. So if there is too much of the drug present in the urine sample it will not register as off the charts so the test does not work? Let’s say I smoked a lot a night before the test – and when I say a lot, I mean A LOT – that would not make me pass because it will be above upper cut-off level? I read it on some website, and I figured that would be a good way to fool a test, but I have not heard back from the company for three weeks now, so I am starting to think that they will not hire me after all…

  -         The concentration of the drug in the urine cannot be too high since your liver and kidneys can only disperse so much at a time. The fact that you smoked more than usual means that there is a lot of THC in your body, but not necessarily in the urine right away. Besides, I doubt there is a upper level at all – if drug is present in the urine, it will register at the level it is detected.

  -         Oh, bummer. I guess I should have know better and went with a regular detox product. I am going to have another test with a different company in a week or so – can you send me a detox drink so I pass it next time?

• Drug Detection Time: Barbiturates in the Blood Part 2

  So you found out that you are going to have to submit to a drug test.  Most of the time if you are going to have to submit a sample it would be urine or saliva.  Some more sensitive jobs or court ordered tests would require submitting a hair sample.  Blood tests are not the most commonly used method of substance testing because they are more expensive, and more intrusive than the other drug tests. However, blood tests are the most accurate type of drug test.

  Barbiturates can be detected in the blood for one to two days for a single ingestion and much longer for chronic users.  Your age, body weight, metabolic rate and even the type of barbiturate may increase the detection time of barbiturates in the urine.  Barbiturates are highly addictive and can become habit forming.  There can be severe withdrawal symptom associated with barbiturate addiction and should be taken exactly as they are prescribed to you with regard to dosage and length of time you are supposed to take them.  If the prescription does not appear to be working for you then consult your physician.  Do not attempt to alter the prescription yourself either by increasing the frequency or dosage levels.  This can be a fatal mistake.

  If you are prescribed barbiturates and are required to take a blood test either for pre-employment testing, court ordered testing, accident related blood testing or for insurance purposes, it is wise to disclose your prescriptions to the testing facility before you submit your sample.

• It’s a Buyer’s Market

  What the hell is wrong with people? • Alcohol Hair Follicle Drug Test

  We recently have begun to get calls from very anxious customers who have to take an Alcohol Hair Follicle Drug Test and they are very afraid they cannot pass this type of hair drug test or they are not clear as to what an alcohol hair drug test is.   Here is what we know so far. Alcohol is not as easily detected in hair drug tests as are many other drugs. Ethanol or alcohol is present in all hair including those of people who don’t drink alcohol at all. These alcohol deposits can be products of the environment. The alcohol hair follicle drug tests looks for direct products of ethanol/alcohol metabolism. So, about seven strong drinks a day would equal 56 grams of alcohol.  A 750ml bottle of wine with 13% alcohol by volume would contain about 78 grams of alcohol. Consumed alcohol is not deposited directly into the hair.
