Did I really fail?
Some people get drug tests and the test results come up failing. They get very upset and swear they have not touched the drug in quite sometime. Is it possible that the toxin is still in their system? Or could it be a false positive?
A customer called back in December very upset:
“Hi, I have been clean from cocaine since November 3, 2009. I snorted it for about 3 weeks and smoked it for a week everyday. I did about 1-2 grams a day. I have not touched it in over a month. I got into some trouble and now I have to take piss tests every couple weeks. Considering the fact that I haven’t touched it in a while, I took a piss test and was sure I was going to pass. Well, I didn’t. I failed. I explained to them that there is no way I can fail and it had to be a false positive test. Do you think I failed because I still have cocaine in my system? Or was it really a false positive?”
“It may be possible that the cocaine is still in your system. This all depends on the amount of cocaine you consumed, the quality of the cocaine, your weight and your usage. Because you were using it everyday for about a month, there is a good possibility that the benzoylecgonine (primary metabolite of cocaine) was found in your urine. This metabolite stays in your system longer then the actual cocaine it self. I do not think it was a false positive but I do think you failed your test. Try to work out and sweat, drink a lot of water. If your body is not completely cleaned out then it will be soon.”
If a person is not sure they are clean before their test, they should get a testing device and test themselves just to make sure. As in this situation you can never be to sure.
