Hair Follicle Testing: What You Need To Know
Some men think that they can outsmart the hair drug test by getting a crew cut and leaving very little hair length for the testers to remove from the scalp. These testing facilities did not just fall off the turnip truck. In the case where there is very little hair on the head for the facility to sample they will usually take a hair sample from the armpits or the chest or even the forearms or legs.
Make no mistake they can get enough hair to obtain a viable sample. Unless the test is court ordered there is very little chance that they will request a sample from the pubic area. If you shave your entire body and there is no hair available to sample this will raise a few red flags unless you are a competitive swimmer. In this case the testing facility may request a urine test, a saliva test, or even a blood test.
Another frequently asked question is whether or not a hair sample can be tested when it is obtained from a hair brush or comb. The answer is no. The hair sample must be collected by removing it from the scalp by a certified testing facility. This is to certify the authenticity of the sample and the time and date the sample was collected. The hair found on a brush or comb could be years old or belong to someone other than the party who is supposed to supply the sample. This procedure is known as the chain of custody.
