How Is Your Crew?
If you run a small business or run a small family it is important to be aware if anyone in your company or in your family is doing drugs. You don’t need to have your customers complaining about stoners on your jobsite and you certainly would like to know if Junior or your Little Princess is smoking pot while you are not home. You need to protect your bottom line. This is where home tests come in handy.
Sending your employees to a lab can get expensive so first you would need to find out the legal ramifications of administering the home tests yourself. Most of the time if an employee objects to drug testing then they have something to hide. Testing for THC, cocaine, methamphetamine, opiates and other illegal substances can prevent greater costs in the long run like liability for damages caused by an impaired employee.
Single panel home test strips can be used for individual drugs or you can use a 5 panel home drug test to check for THC, amphetamines, methamphetamines, opiates and cocaine.
If the employee tests positive you have your options. If they are a valued employee you can give them the option of using a detox product to clean up and then give them a home test randomly in a timely manner. If the employee is a habitual screw up then you can send them to a lab to submit to further testing and have grounds for dismissal.
It may sound harsh but if your son or daughter is in danger of jeopardizing his or her future then the responsible thing to do is have them submit to a random home test. They may hate you for a while but they will thank you in the long run and this may open the door for some frank discussion about drug use and taking responsibility for one’s own actions.
