Smoking Pot versus Vaporizing Pros and Cons Part 3
The benefits of vaporizing marijuana versus the benefits of smoking marijuana become much more evident when it comes to the administration of medical marijuana. Some who smoke medical marijuana are doing so because they are under treatment for serious diseases like cancer. The effects of the chemotherapy that these cancer patients are under can be serious nausea and loss of appetite. The THC found in marijuana can help them regain their appetite and reduce nausea but smoking the marijuana just exacerbates the illness especially if the patient is in a weakened condition and has a diminished respiratory system.
Many patients who are in pain management programs rely on marijuana to augment their medication or use it to cope with the harsh side effects of their medication. This causes a conflict when the pain management programs require drug testing and have a zero tolerance for THC found in the sample. The patients may be dismissed from the program or risk having their medication cut off due to this policy,
Vaporizing marijuana delivers a much more potent amount of THC to the patient and it may take longer to clear out of the patient for that patient to pass a drug test. This is a terrible Catch 22 situation and not easily remedied. If the patient wishes to try to pass their test using a detox drink or detox tablets to have a brief three to five hour window that the THC will not show up in urine tests then they are in a quandary because their pain medication will not show up either and the pain management program needs to see some evidence that the pain medication is present in their system and they are not selling it on the streets.
