The Incredible Edible Bud
Now that medical marijuana is becoming a more acceptable treatment for various illnesses in modern society the deliverance of THC for patient care is adapting also. Oh, the times they are a changing. Edible marijuana is changing the face of medical marijuana treatment. Everyone knows someone who has baked some pot brownies in their day but the choices for getting the THC into the body are becoming more abundant every day. Since the legalization of marijuana in states like Colorado and Washington edible marijuana is becoming quite an attractive alternative for those who do not want to breathe in the marijuana smoke into their lungs but desperately need the THC in their system for various reasons including pain management.
This is not new. People have been eating marijuana as long as they have been smoking it. Uncle Stoner’s pot brownies now have some interesting competition. Most of the THC edibles come in the form of baked goods like cookies or brownies and are made with cannabis infused butter or hash oil. There are also many types of candy and taffy and lollipops made from cannabis with varying amounts of THC in them. Hash infused butter is another way of delivering the THC into the patient and can provide a much higher dose of the desired ingredient than cannabis infused butter. At some dispensaries you can also purchase gluten-free edibles for diabetics and others who have adverse allergic reactions to gluten laden products.
There are also viable alternatives to edible THC products such as capsules, tinctures, elixirs, and hash oil drops. These are great for those people who need the THC but don’t want to gain weight by eating the cookies, candies and other edible products.
So if you get the munchies you can satisfy your hunger with some edible THC but if you have to pass a drug test make sure you check the label of the cookies before you eat them!
