Blood Drug Test
Drug Testing is a procedure for determining the consumption of certain narcotic substances by a person i.e. whether the person being tested has consumed drugs. Drug testing has become a part and parcel of life in the United States. This is because authorities have made drug testing compulsory in response to the widespread habit of drug use. Therefore some elementary details about drug tests have become absolutely essential.
Drug Tests use some fluid in the body or a part of the body and scan it for drug residues. They are named after that part or fluid of the body. Thus we have urine drug test, blood test, saliva swab test, sweat test / analysis and the hair drug test. Urine drug test is the most commonly employed drug test due to its inherent advantages. Kidneys store and then excrete the toxins. Therefore urine test can trace drug consumptions for greater periods than the blood test, although not more than the period for which hair drug tests can do the same. The hair test is also the most accurate of the drug tests.
Usually drug tests check for the consumption of commonly consumed drugs like marijuana, cocaine, amphetamine, methamphetamine, benzodiazepines etc. The relative accuracy of the blood test means that benzodiazepine drug test will be more accurate if blood is used as a sample instead of urine.Benzodiazepines drug test time depends on certain criteria.
Blood test is not so frequently employed. This is because extracting blood sample requires a certain amount of expertise. Any accidental introduction of bubble in the blood stream, via the syringe used for drawing blood, can have serious consequences. Having said that it would be imperative to mention that this test is better than the urine test in certain respects. One, the substituting of sample is near impossible – you cannot have somebody else’s blood in your bloodstream. Next, the blood test reveals the actual amount of narcotic substance in the blood at the time when the sample was extracted. This is in contrast to the urine test that only reveals the drug metabolites in the system. Blood tests are therefore employed to check if a person was under the influence of a substance leading to an accident. Health insurance companies also regularly test the blood of their prospective clients before handing out the policy.
