Lysergic acid diethylamide usually known as lsd is one of the major abused drug. It has a got very potent mood changing chemicals present inside it. Lsd is available in the form of tablets, capsules and liquid form. The health hazards of lsd are difficult to predict. The physical effects could be loss of appetite, increase in the body temperature, increased blood pressure, sleeplessness, dry mouth and tremors. The user may get mood swings and is likely to become moody and get irritated soon.
Some of the lsd users experience severe, terrifying thoughts and feelings, fear of insanity, fear of death while using this drug. On a chronic use of hallucinogens, user is likely to experience flashbacks. Recurrence of certain incidents of user’s experience without using then drug is quite common. Lsd is not considered as an addictive drug as it does not produce any obsessive drug seeking behavior as in case of cocaine, heroin or nicotine. Lsd can produce a tolerance effect like other drugs which means that the lsd users need to take a high dosage of lsd to achieve detoxification.
The National Household Survey on Drug Abuse (NHSDA) reported the extent of drug use among the American household population. The survey showed a substantial increase in lsd drug abuse by people of all age groups in the US. This survey was conducted in 1996 and it estimated that the percentage of population aging above 12 using lsd was 7.7%, whereas it was found to be 6% in the year 1988.
Lsd can be detected by a urine drug test or a blood drug test. The detection time of lsd in the urine is about 24-48 hours. It is rapidly removed from the system. Lsd is difficult to detect in a drug testing because of its little amount and rapid flushing from the system. Moreover lsd is not included in the NIDA-5 drugs. Thus they are not usually detected for. Lsd drug testing is very uncommon and is conducted by certain military branches only.
Passing a drug test for lsd, if there is any, is an easy task whereas passing drug test for meth is relatively difficult as no test solutions are able to remove it out of your system.
