    Diluted or Inconclusive Drug Tests

Here at MB DETOX, we talk a lot about how to prepare and pass a drug test. But how do you comply with an invalid test result? How would you know that the test worked accurately? Here is an example of just such a call.

Caller: Good morning, can you answer a question for me?

MB DETOX: Of course, would be happy to help you.

Caller: All right, I was just subjected to a random drug test and I do not really understand what happened. I used to be a daily THC smoker, but then I stopped, and a couple months ago I used your permanent detox kit for the whole body and haven’t smoked any THC since. I take medications daily and have a valid prescription for them, and I mentioned it in the paperwork and everything, I just don’t get it – they said invalid drug tests are just as bad as positive drug tests.

MB DETOX: No, that is not true. Positive drug tests rarely have as many second chances, as an invalid drug test would have. Did they give you any reasons why your urine sample tested invalid?

Caller: They said it was something to do with the creatine level, but I’m thinking it must be my medications. I heard that sometimes over-the-counter NSAID could cause an interference with the drug test outcome. Do you know anything about that?

MB DETOX: Yes, but that will not cause creatine levels to change. Did you drink a lot of water before your test?

Caller: Sure I did! They pulled me out all of a sudden and I had to urinate right away! I chugged like two bottles down!

MB DETOX: More than likely that what has altered creatine level, not your medication, and they should know it. Were you told to come back for a re-test?

Caller: Yes, I think I’m supposed to do it within an hour. So just not drink a lot of water before the test?

MB DETOX: Exactly. And I’m sure if you inquire with the lab technicians, they will guide you through the procedure and the amount of fluids that will be acceptable to drink before the test.

    Caller: Sweet! Thanks a lot!
