Can Incense Make You Fail a Drug Test?
Recently I received a phone call from a woman who asked if she would fail a drug urine test because of some incense she was burning. I told her that I didn’t think so because much like second hand smoke she wouldn’t have inhaled much of it and besides there can’t be any THC in the incense or it couldn’t be sold legally in the United States without a prescription. That is when she told me that the incense she was burning was actually getting her high like marijuana would. She said the name of it was Mojo Diamond incense.
I did a little research and found out that this product also known as Spice, Black Mamba, Bombay Blue or Bliss can give you a lighter high than marijuana, won’t show up on a drug test and is completely legal but according to health officials may not be completely safe either. It is sold as incense but some people smoke it to get high even though it comes with a label that says “Not For Human Consumption”. This product contains damiana. Damiana is a shrub mostly found in Mexico, Texas and California. The herb derived from this plant affects your body’s central nervous system and acts like an antidepressant to ease anxiety, nervousness and mild depression. It is also used to treat headaches, control bed wetting and even as an aphrodisiac. The FDA has not evaluated damiana so there is no official data on the risks or advantages of it. If it is being sold as incense then it could be very dangerous to try and smoke it as you have no idea what other unknown substances it may contain.
