- Sure! What kind of test is it?
- It is a pre-employment test and I think they will be testing my urine. I’ve been clean for a while, but not sure if I can pass it on my own – I got a home tester and it showed positive last night. And another thing is – I never had to pass a drug test before, so can you tell me little bit more about the whole procedure, please?
- Absolutely. First, you would need to fill out some paperwork – such as consent from and a disclosure form. Fist one allows the lab to test your sample, second one should list all the medication you are currently taking. Make sure to include everything you can think of, prescribed and over-the-counter ones – sometimes a sample tests positive, and you need to make sure you have something to argue a false positive reading; in this case, a list of medication that might have triggered it will come in handy.
- Ok, I will definitely do that. And then what? They give me a cup to pee in?
- Pretty much. There will be a technician to walk your through everything they wants from you.
- Ok, what happens if I cannot pee when they ask me to?
- That does happen to some people; it’s called a “shy bladder” syndrome – when you cannot go to the bathroom when someone else is present, or by request. In that case they will give you a glass of water every 30 minutes, and if you still can’t – they’ll increase the water amounts.
- What if I still can’t?
- If you cannot provide a good enough sample, they might report you as “refused” to your employer.
- Oh, I guess, I better try hard, right?
- Well, that much water will make you go, don’t worry.
