Weaving out
There are a lot of different detox products and they all have different instructions on how to use them properly. It is quite common for us to receive phone calls from customers who just want to make sure they have correct instructions.
- Hi, I got this shampoo the other day. How do I use it? Just like a regular shampoo?
- Pretty much, follow the instructions on the bottle and make sure that you submit your hair sample within next several hours.
- I see. Is that ok if I use it on my weave?
- Well… I’m not sure if that’s the hair they will be testing. They will need your natural hair to see if there are any toxins in it.
- My natural hair is very-very short, so I’m not sure if they can test it, and it’s kinda hard to access it…
- In that case they might be taking a sample from your body.
- Where on the body can they take the hair from?
- If they can’t get it from your head, they will take it from anywhere they can find a sufficient amount for a sample. You can use the shampoo on your body hair, too.
- Oh, man. I scheduled my test for today, but this bottle is so small, I don’t know if there’s going to be enough for my weave and my body. I’m going to need another bottle. Let me see if I can reschedule it.In order to pass a test you need to make sure that the sample that you are submitting is legitimate: in a situation like this one, the length of the hair will not matter if the question raised is whether to test the natural hair or artificial. You cannot substitute even if it is very short – if they are determined to get a hair sample from you, they will take it from anywhere they can find.
