Cheating Drug Tests
Cheating drug tests
There are numerous products available on the internet that claim to provide a quick solution to passing a drug test by cheating. These products may range from niacin to bleach and even synthetic urine. However, this fact is also known by the people who carry out the tests and thus testing of masking agents and synthetic urine is also carried out. This simply means that adulterants are also tested along with various common drugs such as marijuana, cocaine, and opium derivatives such as codeine along with numerous other hallucinogens.
There are numerous areas where drug testing is mandatory since these jobs are either hazardous or are safety-sensitive. For instance, the Department of Transportation (dot) compliant drug test is given to safety-sensitive transportation workers in the, trucking, railroad, mass transit, aviation, pipeline and other transportation industries. This is because many people’s lives depend on these employees and drugs can lead to fatal consequences in the form of accidents.
Saliva drug tests are not approved by FDA (Food and drug Association) or SAMHSA for use with DOT / Federal Mandated Drug Testing. Therefore cheating on a dot drug test is difficult since numerous drugs such as marijuana cannot be detected in the saliva or oral fluid if consumed more than twelve hours prior to the screening. Moreover, cheating on these tests can lead to further complications if random drug testing is carried out which can also lead to legal consequences.
Substituting a sample can also be a method to pass a dot drug test but this is not recommended since, again, random testing can detect drugs in your body. Another method is to dilute the sample but it may arouse suspicion since urine is usually yellow and a very clear sample with drugs equal or slightly higher to cutoff levels looks suspicious. There are usually two levels of testing and if you are below the cutoff level in the initial testing then the laboratory cannot proceed with the secondary (confirmatory) test. However, if you are test above them on the first screens, but lower on the confirmatory screening, the lab cannot report it as positive.
