Pot Drug Test Myths
Marijuana, popularly known as pot, is the most widely used drug in the United States as well as in many other locations across the world. It is a mild drug and can either be smoked in or orally ingested. It is especially popular among school and college going teenagers. This adds a dangerous dimension to the problem. Young people start using this drug and these same individuals can graduate into addicts or users of more potent drugs like cocaine. Findings of reliable surveys indicate that more than 80% of adults in the US confessed to having used at least pot in their school and college days. And, about 17% admitted having used potent drugs like cocaine.
A drug test is supposed to discourage drug use. Failing to pass a drug test or simply the fear of testing positive is enough to deter existing and potential drug users from using drugs. The urine drug test is the most common of all the drug tests. In common parlance, passing a drug test means passing drug urine test. In most cases the urine test is used to detect use of pot. Because the drug is so commonly used, there is a lot of misinformation about pot and drug tests that detect pot. This article deals with pot drug test myths and facts.
Tetra hydro cannabinol (THC) is the psychoactive substance in pot. Its retention time in the human body depends on many factors like the age, gender, height, weight, size, metabolism, fluid intake and percentage of body fat of the user. Drug use habits like amount and frequency of drug use and the duration for which the user has been using pot also determine retention times. To pass this test you need to detoxify by burning fat by exercising, drinking a lot of water and taking a balanced – healthy diet for 7 to 15 days before the test. THC is fat soluble and burning fat will break down THC. Water will then flush out this THC through urine. You can also take vitamin B tablets to restore the dark yellow color of urine and aspirin tablets that prevent detection of THC. These are the facts. Others are myths – like drinking bleach and vinegar to pass a urine test for THC. These won’t help you pass the test but can get you killed.
