Urine Drug Test Time Frame.
The different types of drug test methods blood urine hair saliva and sweat. Drug tests are named after these fluids / parts that are used as samples in the test. Urine Test is mostly used as it is an optimum test in many respects – expenses, time required to conduct the test and arrive at conclusions and the duration before the test for which drug use can be traced. Kidneys do not excrete toxins immediately. They are stored and then gradually eliminated through the urine. This is the reason why drug residues in urine can be traced for greater periods than they can be done in blood or saliva. However, the hair drug test can trace drug use for the greatest period.
Different drugs are retained in the body for different periods. The periods depend on a wide range of factors related to the user. These include age, gender, height, weight, percentage of fat, frequency of use, amount of drugs used in each installment, duration for which he / she has been using the drug, body metabolism and the like. Average time frames for drug retention in urine are available, but these cannot be considered to be reliable indicators by any standards. For e.g. marijuana can be detected in urine for a period of 10 days, 45 days and 90 days respectively in the case of occasional users, regular users and chronic users. Amphetamine can be detected in urine for 48 to 72 hours while the corresponding time frame for methamphetamine is 48 to 96 hours.
In general fat users retain drugs for longer periods, as drug residues are stored in body fat. Persons with a fast metabolism absorb and excrete things more quickly. Therefore they retain drugs for shorter durations. Sometimes in chronic users, who have developed a tolerance, THC (tetra-hydro-cannabinol that is the most psychoactive substance in marijuana) does not show in urine because it is excreted more quickly by their bodies than those of occasional users. The shortest detection times are for occasional users with relatively fast metabolisms. Therefore the best way to test a person is to surprise him in a random test – that way he will not be able to tamper with his body mechanisms.
