    Drug Test Blood

    Drug Test Blood.

A Drug Test checks the presence or absence of drugs inside the body system of the person being tested. With the increasing use of drugs by people in the United States, starting with the teenagers in schools and colleges, the authorities were forced to make drug tests compulsory. This is so as repeated positive testing in a drug test does decrease drug use – and this is a proven observation. Therefore we now have drug tests for students of schools and colleges, sportspersons, employees – public and private, vendors, tenants and many others.

Drug Tests are mainly of five types: urine drug test, blood test, saliva swab test, sweat analysis / test and the hair drug test. Each of these tests has their strengths and limitations. For e.g. hair drug test is the most accurate and can trace drug consumption patterns for longer periods, but they are more expensive and time consuming.

Blood tests reveal the presence (or absence) and the concentration of the drug in the bloodstream of the person at the time when blood was extracted. On the other hand as kidneys store the toxins they also excrete them through urine for longer periods. Thus urine tests can trace drug consumption patterns for greater periods than blood tests. With this also comes the downside of the urine test. If you have consumed drugs long time ago, they can still be detected in your urine. Thus you are more likely to get a false positive for a cocaine drug test if the specimen taken was urine.

On the other hand faking a blood sample is almost impossible. Many people can and do substitute the urine sample, although the incidence of the same is on the decline due to precautions like checking temperature of the urine sample immediately, having someone supervise the sample taking process etc. Blood tests are also easier to beat than urine tests with the use of detoxifiers or detox. These are substances that break down the toxins in the body fluids and therefore make them difficult to detect. Blood testing is generally used for checking alcohol consumption for checking drunk driving and drinking in schools, colleges and workplaces.
