Our mission is to instill an understanding and appreciation of the common thread that connects modern biological study at all levels, from molecules to ecosystems. These are just a few of the many biology examples wherein its fundamental tenets are integrated into other scientific fields. AIMS AND SCOPE OF JOURNAL: The Annual Review of Cell and Developmental Biology, in publication since 1985, covers the most significant developments in the field of cell and developmental biology, including structure, function, and organization of the cell, development and evolution of the cell as it relates to single and multicellular organisms, and models and tools of molecular biology.

Undergraduate students majoring in Biology have the opportunity to specialize in areas of particular interest by selecting from four different concentrations: Biology of Global Health, Cell & Molecular Biology, Integrative Biology, and Science Education. We provide undergraduate and graduate students access to the full breadth of the exciting and dynamic fields within the biological sciences. Examples of legal careers for biology graduates include roles in patenting, where understanding of specific scientific and technical features would help.

Each summer, a significant number of biology students spend eight to 10 weeks on campus pursuing independent research projects or offering valuable aid to professors in faculty-guided research. Students in our programs acquire the knowledge, tools and skills that allow them to succeed in a wide range of careers, including research in academia, government, NGOs and industry, consultancy, medicine and law, to name a few.

Our scientific expertise spans the realm of biological sciences to drive advances in medicine and healthcare, biotechnology, education, and public policy. Biological science as done in the laboratory is so much more complicated than Wason’s test systems that it’s certainly fair to question the relevance of simple card tricks played on unsuspecting undergraduate students on what educated people in white coats do in the lab.

Research All Biology faculty members share a passion for cultivating a love of research in students. In addition to subject-specific knowledge of biological systems and concepts, you develop a range of practical and technical skills and learn how to use specialist techniques and technical equipment. In years 2 and 3, you’ll build on your fundamental biology skills and knowledge. The friction between the two areas – and the protection of the lesser funded evolutionary biology – was resolved by a process of fission separating or cleaving the two halves of biology, one molecular and the other organismic (Smocovitis, 1996).

Tilly’s lab seeks to promote a deeper understanding of the genetic and epigenetic drivers of cell lineage specification, differentiation and death, and to then utilize the information gained from these studies for development of innovative new technologies to improve human health within and across. Traditions of medicine, collective knowledge from physicians, works of prominent historical figures such as Aristotle eventually coalesced into the field of study we know today as biology.
